The Rock surprised Screen Junkies correspondent Nick Mundy with a wedding ceremony in 2015. Nick has interviewed The Rock numerous times and was told he was going to interview him again on this occasion. Instead, The Rock walked him into a room filled with family members and friends, then officiated a wedding ceremony for Nick and his then-fiancée, Dilara.

When Colton Haynes and Jeff Leatham wed in 2017, Kris Jenner officiated the ceremony. In addition, Bravo wrote that Kris officiated the wedding of Faye Resnick and Everett Jack Jr. in 2015.

In 2013, BBC News revealed that when Sir Patrick Stewart married Sunny Ozell, Ian served as the officiant of the wedding. He had previously married one other couple before this, and in 2016 The Guardian stated that he turned down an offer of $1.5 million to officiate Napster co-founder Sean Parker’s wedding in character as Gandalf.

Gaga became an ordained minister and conducted the wedding of one of her friends, her yoga instructor, after same-sex marriage was legalized.

“My yoga instructor Tricia is a lesbian and she lives with her partner for years now, and they have a beautiful daughter. And [they] asked me to marry them. So yes, I’m going to,” Gaga told JoJo Wright of KIIS-FM in 2011, via The Irish Independent.

“They’re very proud of it because they have waited a long time to be able to legitimize their love for one another, so it’s really beautiful,” she added.

In 2012, TV Land documented the occasion when Fran served as the officiant for a wedding between two men, Russell and Tom. The couple decided to tie the knot after more than 19 years together.

“Love is love. I’m not a divisionist; I am a uniter,” Fran told The New York Times about officiating gay weddings.

In 2014, Jonah officiated his friend Adam Levine’s wedding to Behati Prinsloo. He opened up about this experience during a Howard Stern Show interview in 2016 and said the stress of the role made him leave the reception early.

“I’m writing all these things and I realize I have no jokes in the whole thing because I’m just trying to be thoughtful and respectful and loving to these people who asked me to do this main honor,” Jonah said, via SiriusXM. “And then the fucking sick egomaniac inside of you goes, ‘Well I gotta kill a little bit, too,’ you know? And then Adam’s like, ‘Yeah you should be funny, be funny,’ you know?” … “I still had an amazing time, but afterwards, … [I was] drained. I left the party after, like, 30 minutes.”

Ryan officiated Lea Michele’s wedding to Zandy Reich in 2019. Another Glee alum, Jonathan Groff, was in the wedding party, as he served as Lea’s “man of honor.”

BRIDES reported that Cardi officiated the wedding of two brides in 2021, which was filmed for the series, Cardi Tries. The release of this episode coincided with National Coming Out Day. She’s since offered to officiate Kal Penn’s wedding.

In 2015, Howard Stern revealed on his SiriusXM show that Jimmy Kimmel was the officiant at Jennifer Aniston’s wedding to Justin Theroux, according to Us Weekly. Howard, who gave a speech at the ceremony, said Jimmy got emotional while taking on this role.

“Jimmy was the preacher,” Howard said. “He did a beautiful job. I didn’t think he’d get through it … Ellen [DeGeneres] was mad that I made fun of Jimmy for crying.”

Emma officiated the wedding of Holly Shakoor, her publicist, and director Ruben Fleischer in 2012, via Business Insider. The couple was introduced through Emma, as they met while Ruben directed her in Gangster Squad.

Page Six reported that Harry conducted the wedding ceremony of his agent, Jeffrey Azoff, and Glenne Christiaansen in January 2021. Olivia Wilde, Harry’s girlfriend, also attended the event, which took place in Montecito, California.

When America Ferrerra married Ryan Piers Williams in 2011, she asked her Ugly Betty costar, Judith Light, to officiate. Additionally, the wedding took place at the house of another Ugly Betty cast member, Vanessa Williams.

“Judith … is a mother to me. I love her so dearly,” America said as she remembered the wedding on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show in 2021.

“There’s no one in the world who’s more aptly named … She just is ‘light,'” she added.

In a 2018 episode of ITV’s This Morning, Alan Carr said that Adele had officiated his wedding to Paul Drayton. He also revealed that the singer, who is a good friend of both him and Paul, got ordained in order to marry the two and flew them to Vegas to watch Celine Dion perform before their nuptials. 

“She is the kindest, most sweetest, loveliest person ever,” he said of Adele.

“I was very proud to be there,” he told Daily Xtra about the event. “[My friend] asked me to officiate, and I’d do it whether my friend who asked me was gay, straight, or indifferent.”

In 2014, Queen Latifah wed 33 couples at the Grammys as Madonna served as Maid of Honor, CBS 6 wrote. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis also made an appearance and sang “Same Love” in support of same-sex marriage.

Jason crashed the wedding of two fans in 2013 to sing his single, “Marry Me,” for the couple and wedding guests. 

“That was so beautiful, thank you [Jason]. I loved it and that was a great surprise,” the bride said when interviewed at the reception.

“I couldn’t ask for anything more, man. I really appreciate it. [Jason is] a really true, great guy,” the groom added.

Tom surprised Diciembre and Tashia Farries when he approached them as they took photos at the Santa Monica Pier on their wedding day in 2021, Today reported. He posed for pictures with the couple and imparted some kind words, which Diciembre called “the cherry on top for our big day.”

“[Tom] said he noticed the ceremony and gave us many compliments and just said we looked beautiful,” Tashia added. “He gave us love advice and was just so positive and humble.”

Kyle & Jackie O of KIIS 1065 offered to pay for the wedding of two of their listeners, Matt and Kya, in 2015. The couple was furthered surprised at the ceremony when Ed Sheeran showed up to sing “Thinking Out Loud” for their first dance together.

According to USA Today, John met a couple the day before their wedding ceremony in Georgia while he was in town to renew his pilot’s license. The actor took photos with the couple the evening after their meeting, then showed up to the wedding the next day to celebrate their nuptials.

For their “Sugar” music video, Maroon 5 crashed a few real-life weddings and surprised some fans with performances of the hit song.

One of the wedding photographers, Duke Khodaverdian, told USA Today that a couple and their guests at the event were stunned to see the band show up.

“Around 10:30, some producer came up and said, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, we have a great surprise for you.’ Everyone went berzerk. The room was electric,” he said.

Before Chelsey Gaudet and Ryan Parks married in 2016, Chelsey’s dad randomly ran into Justin while he was stopping for food close by their wedding venue. So, he invited the singer to the wedding, and Justin took him up on the offer.

“We were taking the first look photo and all of a sudden Justin Timberlake appears out of nowhere, shakes my husband’s hand and congratulates us and takes a photo,” Chelsey told Entertainment Tonight. “We thought it was awesome of him to do that, but had no idea it would go viral.”

Taylor crashed a fan’s wedding in 2016, then sang “Blank Space” for the bride and groom, Max Singer and Kenya Smith, and their wedding guests. Taylor coordinated the visit after learning about the death of Max’s mother through his sister, Ali. The couple was also given a handmade card from Taylor that included the lyrics, “So it’s gonna be forever,” according to People

After same-sex marriage was legalized in 2015, Jennifer surprised two men, Chris and Scott Lindsey, by making an appearance at their wedding in Dallas. The Dallas Morning News posted a video showing how the singer first convinced the couple she couldn’t attend the event, which made her arrival even more shocking to Chris and Scott. Jennifer then sang “I Still Love You” at the celebration.

Lisa White and Paul Getz got a major surprise when Tim showed up to their wedding and performed in 2016. The bride’s father, David, was the only one at the event who was expecting Tim’s arrival, Paul’s sister, Kristen, said.

“Tim was there for two hours backstage beforehand, and that’s when him and [David] planned how the surprise would go down,” Kristen told CBS Philadelphia. “[It was] such a heart warming moment filled with love!”

In 2015, Hoda surprised Misty Galecki, a huge fan of hers and the Today show, by attending her wedding to Christopher Grosshans. She also flew in Misty’s best friend to witness the ceremony. Christopher knew about the surprise and helped Hoda and Today producers pull it off. 

“I always wanted this to happen to me,” Misty told Today. “You see it on TV and I always wish it was me and it was me. It was me!” 

Hoda also officiated a surprise wedding ceremony for a couple via Zoom during the pandemic.
