Although Wells did not find love with the Bachelor franchise, he is now engaged to actress Sarah Hyland. The couple began seeing each other in 2017 after Wells sent a private message to Sarah on Instagram. Wells and Sarah moved in together in the summer of 2018. Wells proposed on July 16, 2019, and he and Sarah were excited to get married, but their plans were put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Wells and Sarah plan to get married this year.

In an interview with Bachelor Nation, Wells shared his favorite parts about planning his and Sarah’s wedding. He said that the planning has “been a lot, but it’s also been really fun.” He was surprised by how much he has been enjoying it. He said, “There are some things that I didn’t know I would like so much. I really enjoyed the curation of the meal. That was really fun figuring out what we wanted to eat and cake tasting was also really fun.” Wells added that he is really excited about everything on their menu and shared that they “we went a little truffle heavy! But there are some special things like from restaurants that we love and so there are some things that are specific to us.”

Bachelor in Paradise star Wells also wanted to address the people who are wondering why he and Sarah have not gotten married yet after years of waiting because of the pandemic. He explained that they found a venue that they love, and they booked it, so they do not want to lose that money. He said, “Of course we could just go to the courthouse, but we put this deposit down and we want to get married at our venue.” Wells also shared that what he learned from the wedding planning process is that “we never want to do this again. Planning a wedding is tough. Every time I’ve ever talked to anyone they always say to just go to France and elope and that they wish they did that. Now that we’re doing it, I totally get it.” However, Wells is happy that he and Sarah are planning a traditional wedding. He said, “But I’m really glad we’re doing this because we have a lot of people in our lives that love us and this is a long time coming for everyone. It will be a fun party for everyone!” Wells’ pre-wedding plans also included his bachelor party in Mexico, which was attended by his fellow Bachelor Nation stars Ben Higgins and Derek Peth. He shared that Bachelor Nation will be a part of the wedding, saying, “There are a bunch of people from Bachelor Nation that are going to be there. For my groomsmen, it’s just family. But there will be a lot of Bachelor family in attendance for sure!”

Wells and Sarah have waited a long time for this wedding, so they deserve to have the perfect day. Wells’ excitement and happiness about the upcoming event is wonderful to see, especially since he has helped so many other couples navigate their Bachelor in Paradise love stories. Wells and Sarah deserve a lifetime of good health and happiness together.
