Coronavirus: City of Kelowna updates website with COVID-19 chatbot

A new feature has been added to the City of Kelowna’s website to help educate residents on Kelowna’s COVID-19 response and services available. “Launched on Dec. 7, the Kelowna ‘citybot’ can answer some common questions about the city’s response to COVID-19 and services during the pandemic,” wrote city staff, in a release. Chatbots are computer programs designed to simulate a human-like conversation over text. They can be programmed to answer frequently asked questions, search for web content, and to connect people with services. A Kelowna company that specializes in licensed board games has released its newest game — just in time for Christmas. Okanagan student wins gold at national website design competition

An Okanagan student topped the field this week at a national website design competition. Aidan Eglin, a Grade 11 student at Pleasant Valley Secondary School in Armstrong, competed in the technology division at the Skills Canada event in Halifax. His website entry on a maritime seafood restaurant was judged the best of all the national competitors.
