In an impressively open 2010 interview with People, Aguilera revealed, “At the time, it felt absolutely right. Jordan and I were best friends first, and then it grew to be more. Guests were served comfort food like roasted chicken and family-style mac and cheese. The 150 strong wedding party danced all night as DJ AM provided the music. Aguilera wowed in a spectacular $80,000 gown.
People estimates the total cost of the wedding to have been $2 million. In January 2008, Aguilera and Bratman welcomed a son named Max Liron. But the couple sadly divorced in 2011, ending their 8-year relationship.

Referring to the difficult living situation, she noted, “It got to a point where our life at home was reminding me of my own childhood. I will not have my son grow up in a tension-filled home.”
Aguilera wasn’t afraid of what the public would say, revealing, “I knew there would be a negative reaction in the press to my divorce, but I am not going to live my life because of something someone might say. That goes against everything I sing [about] on my records. I have to be myself.”
On Valentine’s Day 2014, Aguilera became engaged to singer/guitarist Matthew Rutler, several years after meeting on the set of Burlesque. The pair share daughter Summer Rain, 6.
During the global pandemic. Aguilera reflected on all the “quality family time” she was able to have with Rutler and her two children. “I’d been on the road for a year prior between Europe and Vegas, so it was nice for me to take a reflective pause and a moment and take everything in on a personal level as a mom, as an artist and be able to dig in creatively and make positive changes for my future,” Aguilera said.
