Mar. 11—COLUMBIA — A controversial application for a wedding/ event venue on 79 Cards Mill Road has been withdrawn from the town, but plans to build the venue are still ongoing.

Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman Richard Nassiff Jr. said the application had been withdrawn at the commission’s meeting last month.

Valley Street Investments LLC, the applicant for the project, proposes the wedding/ event facility would hold a maximum of 15 events on a yearly basis with a maximum of 200 guests for each event.

Wedding ceremonies would be held at an on- site gazebo that is positioned in a heavily landscaped area of the property with views of the Ten Mile River.

Events would be limited Thursday through Sunday only from 11 a. m. to 11 p. m.

According to Columbia Town Planner Paula Stahl, the applicant withdrew the application so it can be modified.

” The reason they withdrew is because they wanted to make changes,” she said.

As of Thursday afternoon, Valley Street Investments had not yet submitted a modified application to the PZC.

There is currently no time frame for when Valley Street Investments will resubmit its application for the project to the planning and zoning commission.
