Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar’s wedding ceremony was planned with a lot of details in mind. The couple tied the knot on January 27 in Goa and shared the beautiful photographs with fans on social media. During an exclusive interaction with IndiaToday.in, Mahendra Gangadharan – owner and CEO of wedding planning company, Neferrtiti weddings – revealed the details about how Mouni Roy and Suraj’s grand shaadi was planned. With just 110 guests, the wedding was a blast, revealed the planner.

MOUNI WANTED HER WEDDING TO BE FINE, CLASSY AND GLAMOUROUS

The wedding took place in Hilton Goa, and newlyweds Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar were surrounded by a close group of loved ones from both sides of the family. About Mouni’s participation in the preparations, Mahendra Gangadharan told IndiaToday.in, “Mouni had reached out to us and was very particular about everything – from the type of flowers to the colour of flowers, shades, etc. Basically, she wanted something very fine, classy and glamorous. She had all the taste of Bollywood. Mouni had a lot of references to show us and we even shared a few suggestions. We had different styles of decor and flowers for every event. She was very passionate about what she wanted. She wanted something romantic and dreamy and we made it happen for her. She was really very happy.”

INSIDE DETAILS OF MOUNI’S HALDI, MEHENDI AND SANGEET CEREMONIES

Mahendra also shared details of Mouni and Suraj’s haldi and mehendi functions. “Haldi was with a very small crowd. Only 60-70 people were invited for the Haldi ceremony. Very close family and friends were present. Haldi ceremony went on for 45 minutes and then they had the mehendi ceremony. For her haldi, we used shades of yellow, whereas mehendi was more of peach and red with a touch of yellow, but no whites. We had built a nice mehendi set for her. It had a corridor decorated with lots of flowers and we used a lot of Rajasthani artefacts like dewan, couches and sofas. It was a real colourful mehendi and everything looked gorgeous. The mehendi ceremony began at 2 pm and went on till 10.30 pm.”

Mouni and Suraj had their sangeet post their wedding. Giving details about that, Mahendra said, “She wanted her Sangeet to be a really premium Bollywood night because her friends from Bollywood were present for the function. It was a great night. She danced her heart out. It was out of the world.”

WHAT WAS ON THE MENU?

Talking about the feast served during the celebrations, the wedding planner said, “The menu was curated as per events. Hilton Goa took care of everything. For the sangeet, they served mainly starters. They had a pool party where they were served all grilled food, which included turkey, lambs, prawns and coastal food. It was like a barbeque party. For Sangeet, it was a muti-cuisine menu. The three-tier cake cut by the couple during the sangeet was a surprise for them.”

THE DÉCOR FOR MOUNI AND SURAJ’S GRAND SHAADI

Coming to the wedding part, Mahendra revealed, “For the Malayali wedding, the stage was erected on the swimming pool. It was a typical Malayalam wedding, with decor consisting of lots of coconut flowers and leaves, lamps, traditional Rajnigandha flowers, etc. Then we had the bride enter with her bridesmaids with a lot of diyas. It was stunning to look at. Mouni was dressed in all white. It was outstanding. It was a very memorable moment for us. She let us do whatever we wanted, didn’t say no to anything. Every event was mesmerising. Mouni was very graceful in the Malayali outfit. She was a perfect Malayali bride.”

He continued, “After the wedding, they had the typical Sadhya lunch (a wedding meal that is served during wedding in Kerala). There were so many varieties of food served on a banana leaf. Around 20 different varieties of delicacies were served to the guest. It was an authentic Kerela wedding. And in the evening, for the Bengali wedding, all typical Bengali food was served, from mutton to fish, chicken, etc. Everything was just delicious.”

The wedding planner also revealed that the couple gave a hamper box curated to the theme as return gifts to the guests. “It had floral masks, chain, a thank you note from the couple, glass bottle with seashells charms and some munchies. In my 30 years of experience as a wedding planner, I can proudly say Mouni was the best bride. She was a darling. She had no demands, whatever we did she was so happy,” he concluded.
