Kanpur: Fulfilling their obligations of being responsible citizens, three newly-wedded brides arrived at respective polling booths in the city to cast their votes.
Shubhi Agarwal Dixit’s marriage was solemnised on Saturday (February 19) and her vidai’ ceremony took place on Sunday.
“Barely spending a few hours at my in-laws’ house, I returned to my parent’s place to cast my vote,” said Shubhi while displaying the mark on her index finger outside Guru Nanak Girls’ College in Lajpat Nagar along with her husband Siddharth Dixit.
The couple said voting is their democratic right which gives them the right to elect a government that can provide good governance.

Another newly-wed bride Pragya Rajput, a resident of Chaubatta Mohalla of Rath, Hamirpur, on Sunday decided to vote before going to her in-laws’ house after solemnization of her marriage.
“I got married just yesterday, but I came here to cast my vote. As an Indian citizen it is my duty to vote,” said Pragya and added, “This made my wedding day even more special.”
