A best man prompted a desperate scramble to pick up a pair of wedding bands after he dropped them during a ceremony

The man’s nightmare was captured on camera when groomsman James lost the rings while standing at the altar at his friend’s wedding last October.

His friends Kate and Troy were celebrating their special day at Ocean View Estates Winery, north of Brisbane, when the best man made the hilarious slip up.

Geoff Schatzel, director at Motion Art wedding videography, filmed the service and said the accident prompted ‘a good laugh’.

‘It was one of those spontaneous moments that happens at a wedding that you tell stories about for years to come,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘It was a nice sunny day, I think they had about 80 guests, and it was just a really nice candid moment,’ Mr Schatzel said.

The footage showed the celebrant asking James to hold up the rings and he reached into his pocket and proudly produced a small ring box.

He smiled and fumbled with the box before the rings could be heard clattering to the floor.

The crowd immediately gasped and laughed while members of the bridal party facepalmed at James’ clumsiness.

‘I actually have never seen a best man drop a ring before but as you can tell from the video it was a great reaction all around,’ Mr Schatzel explained.

‘Even the celebrant had a really good laugh, the bride had a great laugh and the group had a great laugh over it.’

James was seen bending down to pick up the rings with the help of a groomsman, while the celebrant warned him ‘there’s actually cracks in the floor here’.

‘Oh no imagine, James,’ the bride laughed.

‘Mate your big job nearly went out the door. I think he’s lost his job,’ the celebrant joked.

The stunt earned laughs and scattered applause from the audience as Troy gave his red-faced best man a pat on the back.

‘That wasn’t even a joke,’ James replied.

Mr Schatzel said the moment didn’t phase the happy couple and they continued to have ‘a fun ceremony‘.

‘The bride and groom are just great people and they played along with it too, they kind of roasted the best man a little bit as it happened.

‘You could tell how close the whole bridal party was because they all had a great laugh and brushed it off,’ Mr Schatzel explained.
