GREAT NECK, NY — A New York Times best-selling author is coming to Great Neck Plaza to meet with fans and discuss her debut novel, “Olga Dies Dreaming.”

Xochitl Gonzalez will be at Mi Casa es Tu Casa, a Colombian restaurant at 20 S. Station Plaza, for her book talk on Friday, March 25. Hosted by Latina Moms Connect and 100 Hispanic Women of Long Island, the three-hour event kicks off at 6 p.m. with dinner.

A bildungsroman that’s both timely and gritty, “Olga Dies Dreaming” follows a pair of Nuyorican siblings who must grapple with their absent mother and family history in the months leading up to Hurricane Maria.

While reflecting on the complexities of abandonment and cultural identity, the book also explores the universal themes of wanting to feel loved, accepted, and understood.

Olga, the protagonist, is a 39-year-old, status-driven wedding planner who is looking for love. Her older brother, Prieto, is a congressman and divorced father who has yet to come out of the closet.
