We recently sat down to talk with Rauf Shakir, owner of USA Guided Tours, a company that offers transportation choices for weddings and bridal-related events. Representatives from USA Guided Tours will be available at the 2022 Alexandria Wedding Showcase to answer questions and give tours of one of their vehicles for participants.
The wedding showcase is set for Sunday, April 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Alexandrian hotel in Old Town Alexandria. A VIP brunch with style expert Monte Durham is set for 10 a.m. prior to the showcase. Tickets are available here.
ALM: Why is your business a great option for couples in Alexandria and elsewhere?
Shakir: Not only are we the premiere private sightseeing company in the dc area, offering custom guided experiences throughout Washington, we offer car services for events and hotel transportation in luxury vehicles.
ALM: How do you get inspiration and new ideas?
Shakir: Travel is a very fun industry that is both ever changing while also focusing on the reliable sights and trends. Just because our business is in showcasing sights and history, doesn’t mean we can’t innovate. We think it comes down to a ratio of 1:1; respecting the classes and trying something truly new. Never worry about taking chances!
ALM: Why is Alexandria a great wedding destination?
Shakir: The history, the restaurants, beautiful architecture and the neutral weather make it a great destination.
ALM: What is the most unique work you’ve done for a wedding?
Shakir: We did a drinking tour for a bachelorette party. It had a fun history component but add some local cocktails and it was fun for all!
