Popular radio DJ Sam YG will tie the knot with his fiancée Essa Santos in a few days.

In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) via Zoom last Tuesday, March 4, 2022, Sam shared some important details about his upcoming wedding to his non-showbiz girlfriend.

The Boys Night Out host said that he and his future wife are getting married in an intimate garden wedding in Tagaytay.

Sam told PEP.ph, “For our wedding, we plan to do an intimate wedding, you know, just the people that really mean a lot to you.

“This is also a celebration to honor them, di ba? To honor the people that have been there from, you know, the get-go, have been there for us.”

He continued, “It’s gonna be an intimate wedding, just family and friends in a garden.”

Sam and Essa decided to go for a garden wedding so their guests will feel comfortable and safe knowing that we’re still in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“COVID is still out there so we decided to have an open venue so that also the ninongs and ninangs can be more relaxed, our parents can be more relaxed.

“So, I think, Tagaytay is the perfect venue kasi malapit sa Metro Manila. Technically, everybody can go.”

Sam is very much aware that engaged couples sometimes fight over a single wedding detail. For the former Eat Bulaga host, this is the reason why it’s important for couples to compromise to avoid unnecessary stress and heightened emotions.

He said, “I guess, for most couples, including us, it’s really the priorities, di ba? Of course, you set a certain budget ideally for a wedding.

“Tapos, for a guy, may certain priorities ka. Tapos for a girl, meron ka rin certain priorities.

“So I think, dun nagkakaroon ng banggaan minsan when it comes to wedding planning.

“So, somebody really has to, you know, like, in a relationship, kailangan there has to be compromise.

“But we’re lucky enough to have the same vision. But of course, you know, andiyan yung sometimes, conflict and emotions tend to run high especially now that the date is nearing.”

As for him and Essa, Sam added, “I guess, we’ve learned to manage each other’s temperatures na parang, ‘Okay, alam ko na kapag medyo mainit yung ulo niya, ako na yung ba-back down.’

“Or kapag medyo mainit na yung ulo ko, siya na yung ba-back down. But the dynamics of any couple would play a very important role in planning a wedding.

“Because it could really get intense.”

Sam felt that it was easy for him and Essa to plan their wedding. It was easy for him to pick ideas since he has been hosting weddings for over 15 years. Having a great team is also a plus.

He said, “We’re working with such a great team.

“We have COTE [Christine Ong-Te Events] for our coordinator, we have Teddy Manuel doing the styling.

“So everybody’s working hard to make it intimate and very, very special.”

Sam revealed that he will be wearing a suit designed by Francis Libiran. The bride-to-be, on the other hand, will be wearing a creation by Patricia Santos.

Sam and Essa became a couple in April 2018. In January 2021, they announced their engagement.
