A century-old art-house cinema and longtime fixture on Edmonton’s Whyte Avenue has closed its doors and it is not yet clear when it will reopen. The Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL) has launched a website that calls for Albertans to boycott businesses that have previously donated to pro-UCP Political Action Committees (PACs) before the last provincial election. PACs are a political, third-party advertiser, a person, corporation or group which is required to register with Elections Alberta when it spends more than $1,000 on political advertising outside of an election period. Strathcona County business owner says website was hijacked by design company – Edmonton

EDMONTON – A Strathcona County business owner says his company’s website was hijacked by the web design company he hired to maintain it, and he’s losing business as a result. Rick Potts is the owner of Advance Track Setting Systems, a company that makes grooming equipment for cross country skiing. As a part-time, seasonal business, Potts says he relies on his website to stay afloat. “I probably get 98 per cent of all my customers through the web.” At least that was the case until a couple of months ago, when Potts says his site was taken over by TRi-D-FX.
