Project designs for a total revamp of a back alley in the core of Old Strathcona have finally been released to the public, although whether or not the vision will become reality depends on funding that goes beyond what the city has committed to. Edmonton lost $1.6M to invoicing scheme where city didn’t see the signs: audit

The City of Edmonton is trying to recover in court $1.6 million from what the city auditor said was a fraudulent invoice scheme involving a pair of city employees, a private sign supplier and the city’s neighborhood renewal program. Invoices were sent and cheques were cut over a four-year period between 2015 and 2019. Then, a tipster informed the city managers office and in March, police got involved.
