We recently sat down with Jenn Birch, custom stationary manager at Penny Post Paper Goods, 1201 King St. Penny Post, to discuss wedding invitations, thank-you notes and all-things wedding.

ALM: At what point in the wedding planning process should couples start working with you?
Jenn Birch: Once you have your date, venue and household count we can start helping you plan. If you want to come in to look at invitation designs, browse our options and get ideas you can do that really anytime. We do prefer you make an appointment if you are looking for pricing and specifics. This ensures we have someone who can be designated to your needs and give you the undivided attention you and your wedding deserve.
ALM: Why is Alexandria a great wedding destination?
Jenn Birch: Alexandria was voted “Most Romantic City” in the United States (by Amazon in 2016). As a lifelong Alexandrian, I am going to hold onto that victory in my heart forever. It is quaint, historic and so photogenic! We have a waterfront and cobblestone streets, local businesses and restaurants galore, and a super accessible public transportation system for all of your guests to get around. How darling would it be to ride the trolley with your bridal party? How perfect would a picture of the newly-weds holding hands while the sun sets over the Potomac River be? Alexandria truly has it all!
ALM: What is the most unique work you’ve done for a wedding?
Jenn Birch: Oh goodness! I can’t tell you because that wedding has not happened yet! But I can say it involves gold foil, vellum and a beautiful die-cut tag. I was so excited to work on this customization with the customer. I love a challenge and want every invitation to be the epitome of its respective event.

Jenn Birch: The best way to have a great experience shopping for wedding invitations at Penny Post is to come with your household count (which is different than your guest count). That is all we need to set you up for success with all your wedding paper needs. We are here to help you!
