Future brides and grooms filled the Civic Centre over the weekend to try and find the best wedding vendors.

The Strathmore Wedding Expo filled the space with everything from catering, signs, to photography.

“We had a pretty decent turnout, particularly on Sunday, I believe,” explained organizer Dan Wiewel. “We had about 200 people or so come through and we had about 24 vendors total as well, so I would call it a success for my first time running one.”

After experiencing cancellations from clients, himself due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wiewel thought having everyone under the same roof would be beneficial.

“I wanted to make it easier for those couples looking for a caterer or if they needed a venue. It is hard right now because things are either booked solid or wide open.”

When asked about his favourite vendor that he saw, he responded, “For me, the most interesting one was balloon décor; they were really neat. They can do balloon arches and things like that, it was really cool to see something like that out there.”

With the success of this last expo, there is no doubt in Wiewel’s mind that he will trying to organize another event next year.

“The feedback was generally positive. I mean, we’ve learned a lot for the next time we run, streamline things and make things even better for both vendors and attendees.”

Wiewel would like to thank the Town of Strathmore for donating the space to the event.
