In Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, Aarti Shukla left Satyendra Mishra just before their wedding ceremony because she had to pursue her dreams. That also makes sense.
Vaidehi left Badri in Badrinath Ki Dulhania because she wanted to take the next step in her career. Umm… this too looks like a valid reason.
Seems like in this area, TV shows and movies did it right because in real life, the story isn’t the same. People abandoned their wedding and ditched their to-be partners for the most bizarre reasons possible. Like… not being served food on time, and what not.

1. DELAY IN BEING SERVED FOOD
We understand food is a priority for many, but not as much as for this groom from Bihar.
A man from Purnea, Bihar, called off his wedding because food was served late to his family members during the wedding ceremony.
First the groom’s father got angry with the delay in receiving food, then the groom cancelled the wedding and left.
The bride’s family lodged a complaint against them, which made the groom pay for the expenses incurred at the wedding function. They also returned all the gift items they had received from the bride’s family.
2. MUTTON CURRY WAS MISSING
Food, particularly mutton curry, was more important for this Odisha’s groom than his wedding.
In July 2021, 27-year-old Ramakant Patra decided to cancel his wedding at the last moment because the bride’s family did not serve them mutton curry.
Seriously, what was this guy up to?
After the rituals, both the families headed towards the dining hall. The groom’s family demanded mutton curry. However, there was no arrangement for the same. This led to huge arguments and the groom called off the wedding.
A simple solution: He could have carried some mutton curry in a tiffin box, maybe, if it was such an important thing!

3. FAILED IN NEWSPAPER READING TEST
In another bizarre incident, a woman refused to marry the groom at the wedding venue because she realised that he had poor eyesight.
Shivam, a well-educated man from Uttar Pradesh arrived at the wedding venue all decked up, along with his baraat. Little did he know that he would be asked to read a newspaper before the ceremony.
The bride saw the groom with spectacles and asked him to read a Hindi newspaper without his spectacles. As the groom failed to do so due to his poor eyesight, the bride called off the wedding.
Later, the bride also filed a complaint against the groom and his relatives.

4. GROOM UNABLE TO RECITE TABLE OF 2

Wedding cancelled if you don’t know the answer.
This happened with a groom from Dhawar village in Uttar Pradesh. The bride was suspicious about the groom’s educational qualification. So, she decided to take a quick test.
Before the big jaimala moment, she asked the groom to recite the table of 2. And the groom failed miserably.
The bride walked away saying that she could not marry a guy who did not know basics of mathematics.
The bride’s family was also shocked to discover that the groom was uneducated. (totally with the bride on this)
5. THREW THE GARLAND
In another incident from Uttar Pradesh, the bride refused to marry the groom because he threw the garland instead of putting it elegantly around her neck.
Well, this is a reason to be angry for sure and this bride got so angry that she cancelled the wedding. The bride’s parents tried to convenience her but all in vain.
Later, the police was called and they gave back all the exchanged gifts.
