A Sunday night fire damaged a part of the Bella Collina Mansion, which is located in the southeastern corner of the county.
BELEWS LAKE — A weekend fire at a wedding venue in the southeastern corner of Stokes County caused “significant damage” to one of the buildings.
Several fire crews responded to the fire late Sunday night at the Bella Collina Mansion, which has a Stokesdale address and is on the south shore of Belews Lake. Access is on Mount Carmel Road through Forsyth County.
It is described on its website as a “Tuscany-inspired 22,000 square foot mansion.”
Officials said the fire was contained to one section of the mansion.
“I would say that there was significant damage to that part of the structure,” said Bradley Watson, the county’s assistant Fire Marshal.
Responding stations included the Stokes/Rockingham Fire Department, Belews Creek Fire Department, Oak Ridge Fire Department, Stokesdale Fire Department, Hunstville Fire Department, Walnut Cove Fire Department, Madison Fire Department and the Summerfield Fire Department.
No injuries were reported. A cause for the fire is not yet known.
