Sims 4 releases update coinciding with My Wedding Stories launch

The Sims 4 has caused confusion with its latest update, which coincides with the launch of My Wedding Stories.

The newest Game Pack, which is said to give players new and authentic ways to celebrate their Sims’ love for each other, released on Wednesday (February 23) on the usual platforms, but a patch was also rolled out at the same time.

While patch notes are usually provided with new updates, in this case there were none made available.

An EA community manager confirmed “behind-the-scenes fixes” (via SimsCommunity.info), but no additional information was provided.

At the very least, it appears the update addressed some issues with the newest pack.

YouTubers who had early access to My Wedding Stories reported numerous bugs, and many of these were experienced by us at Digital Spy too. Following the update, some of the glitches were sorted but many players are still experiencing problems with the new content.

My Wedding Stories features a new world named Tartosa and a wedding experience that players can tailor to make their Sims’ love story feel unique.

Initially planned for a February 16 release, the launch date was pushed back by around a week following fan backlash over EA’s original decision not to release the pack in Russia.

Russian players including LGBTQ+ Simmers questioned EA’s initial explanation that the storytelling in promotional material, surrounding same-sex couple Dom and Cam, “would be subject to changes because of federal laws” in the country.

The company later did a U-turn and confirmed the pack would release “unaltered and unchanged” in Russia, stating they realised they could “do more than [they] initially believed”.

The Sims 4 is available on PC, Mac, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
