Wedding season is nigh! Whether you’re in the market for a bridal gown or on the hunt for additions to the Pinterest board you began in middle school, we’ve got you covered. Weddings, or wedding fantasies in my case, are defined by two things: the location and, perhaps more importantly, the dress. The two should hopefully inform each other, so here, we’ve broken down the dresses we’ve been eyeing by locale—from intimate, DIY backyard nuptials to traditional church extravaganzas.

The backyard wedding is a great option if you want to keep things more casual. But as Olivia Palermo’s iconic alternative wedding dress moment taught us, casual doesn’t mean any less chic. Pairing a Carolina Herrera skirt overlay and cashmere sweater with silk shorts and blue Manolo Blahniks was a genius styling feat that will live on mood boards for years to come. While we may not have the benefit of Ms. Herrera’s personal guidance through her atelier, as Palermo did, this look proves the value of thinking beyond traditional bridal style elements.

If you are opting for a church wedding, chances are you’re in the market for traditional bridal glamour. Tulle, appliqué, lace, enough volume to hide the entire bridal party under your skirt—you want to look like a queen on your wedding day, and who can blame you?

The city hall suit is almost a cliché at this point but for good reason. Whether your wedding ceremony is at city hall or you are simply making it official before the big day, you can never go wrong with a well-tailored white suit. We love a traditional blazer and trouser combination, but this long, fitted Mônot skirt is a great option if you don’t want to wear pants.

If your wedding journey has led you to the beach, we recommend something simple and breathable, like model Vittoria Cerreti’s lovely Jacquemus gown. The last thing you’ll want to be is sweaty, and there are plenty of stunning options that balance elegance with comfort.

The desert bride is the rustic cousin of the beach bride, with a bohemian twist. Recall the wild, yet elegant aesthetic of Georgia O’Keeffe, an often-overlooked fashion icon in her own right. If comfort is a priority, small details like a ruffled shoulder, a gauzy long sleeve, or embroidery can add a romantic element.

Sexy wedding dresses are certainly having a moment, and we’re not mad at it! This is less about the amount of skin you plan on showing and more about the energy of the dress and the event. That said, why not show a little leg? If there’s ever a time to immortalize your hotness, it’s now.
