UNBC is looking to make six happy couples even happier this summer.
The University will be hosting what they’re calling ‘pop-up’ weddings on two different dates.
“Essentially what we do is we create a three-hour reservation, rather than a full day or evening,” said UNBC Manager of Hospitality Services Deb van Andrichem.
“In that package, we include everything that a couple might need, so it’s less stress, things are handled for you. Everything is all set up.”
The three hour-reservations are split between three parts, one hour each for the ceremony, photoshoot, and a catered reception.
Andrichem says the packages are based on having 25 guests, but they can go up to 50. She added that it’s less expensive than a big wedding.
“It’s a very good option for a couple who maybe during the pandemic decided to hold off on a wedding, or maybe bought a house, or is maybe saving for a down payment.”
There are currently only six weddings available this Summer on July 16th and August 13th. Andrichem said UNBC may consider continuing the pop-up weddings in the future if they are successful.
