LOVEBIRDS yearning to have masterfully done bridal photographs of themselves taken are allowed to do so in Penang as long as all Covid-19 precautions are observed.
The face masks of the couples must stay on except when the photos or video footages are about to be taken.
With the exception of the bride and her make-up artists, everyone else in the photo shoot must maintain a distance of at least 1m from each other.
Hand sanitiser must be available at all times during the shoot and all the outfits and accessories must be sanitised after use.
The entire crew plus the couples must be fully vaccinated with a low-risk status on their MySejahtera app.
These are the precautions set by Penang Wedding Professionals Association (PWPA) for their members to observe.
Penang tourism and creative economy committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin announced this in a recent online press conference.
Wedding photography can resume as long as all Covid-19 precautions are observed.
He said the state had checked with the National Security Council on the matter of bridal photo shoots and the council expressed no objections to indoor or outdoor bridal shoots.
“Hence, I take this opportunity to remind all bridal houses to ensure full compliance to the precautions as they resume wedding photography,” Yeoh added.
He described ‘wedding tourism’ as an important branch in the tourism sector.
“Penang, through Penang Global Tourism, has always been committed to developing wedding tourism through active promotions overseas, especially in highlighting Penang as a favourite destination for wedding photography.”
PWPA president Low Chin Siang said the reopening of the industry for bridal and wedding photography is expected to revive those who had suffered from the trade restrictions.
“Since March last year, we lost about 95% of our members. Many of them shifted to other sectors.
“At present, we have the participation of 60 companies and I urge them to abide by the Covid-19 precautions outlined,” he said.
Low said the SOPs are similar to other sectors which are currently in operation.
