City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officer injured in police shooting incident leaves Sunnybrook Hospital

An OPP officer who was injured during a police-involved shooting last month in the City of Kawartha Lakes remains in stable condition, police say. The Special Investigations Unit continues to investigate the Nov. 26 incident just east of Lindsay in which the SIU says a man was shot by police and a baby was found with a “fatal gunshot wound” inside the man’s pickup truck. The SIU investigates any incidents involving police that resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person. Ontario’s police watchdog says a man has died nearly a week after being shot by provincial police in an incident that also left his one-year-old son dead in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Ont. The Special Investigations Unit says the 33-year-old man died in hospital on Wednesday night. His name was not released.  A post-mortem is scheduled for Friday morning in Toronto, the SIU said. An Innisfil, Ont., man is facing numerous charges following a multi-jurisdictional investigation into the thefts of $475,000 worth of construction equipment and trailers. The City of Edmonton is trying to recover in court $1.6 million from what the city auditor said was a fraudulent invoice scheme involving a pair of city employees, a private sign supplier and the city’s neighborhood renewal program.
