It’s like the old adage goes—something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

When you book your wedding at Langley Oaks at First Christian Church of Pensacola, you can have all four.

Langley Oaks at First Christian Church of Pensacola, located at 6031 Goodrich Drive, is Pensacola’s newest wedding venue. Named for the ancient oak trees dotted along its landscape, Langley Oaks at First Christian Church of Pensacola hopes to draw in young people, as well as couples that may desire a ceremony outdoors.

“We noted that the prices of weddings were getting out of reach for many couples. Many young couples wanted a traditional church wedding, but did not have a home church,” said Martha Heckman, First Christian Church of Pensacola property chairman and project manager. “We felt we could provide the community a service by using our facilities and grounds to serve as a wedding venue.”

Heckman, who’s been a member of First Christian Church of Pensacola since 1957, has been actively involved in property upgrades and spreading the word about what all the church has to offer.

“Martha has a great vision for the future,” said Louise Baker, First Christian Church of Pensacola head of worship. “I learned a long time ago that when she has a vision, you have to get behind her. She’s turned this church around.”

The sanctuary itself can hold as many as 130 guests, while the reception hall and outdoor memorial garden can seat up to 75 guests. If you want to have a band or a wedding DJ at your reception, the space also has a dance floor and sound system available. While wax candles aren’t allowed in the sanctuary, oil candles may be used.

“We can also provide the tablecloths and linens,” Heckman said. “We have red, white, champagne and navy blue, to choose from.”

In addition to the venue space, other amenities also include a commercial sized kitchen for food prep and serving, a cozy bridal suite and a room for the groom and groomsmen. The bridal suite, adorned in white, gray and neutral colors, also offers an adjacent bathroom and closet for the bridal party to get ready for the ceremony

“We’re not wedding planners,” Heckman said. “We’re just the venue, that’s all we are. Since we own all facilities and property, we can provide a lower cost venue with just a much elegance and formality as the couple desires.”

But that doesn’t mean that you will be completely on your own throughout the entire process. Upon making initial contact, a representative will be able to provide guided tours of the property and be able to answer any questions. Once the date has been set, a 30% rental deposit is required for reservation.

“We were wanting someone to get married on Feb. 2, 2022, or 2-2-22,” Heckman said. “But that particular date falls on a Wednesday.”

If you didn’t have a chance to attend their soft open house last month, you will be able to check out their booth at the upcoming Beautiful Beginnings Bridal Expo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Pensacola Bay Center.
